I had gained 20 pounds and was feeling embarrassed to see my family having put on so much weight. This is the moment that I decided to see a personal trainer when we returned to Colorado. <br> My trainer, Francisco, coached me and helped me set realistic goals. I weighed 200 pounds and wanted to be 150 pounds with some nice tone. I gave myself a year. We talked about my diet, which was appalling. I loved pizza, chocolate, wine, and cereal. I hardly ate any fruits or vegetables. He decided I needed a food journal to help me track what I was putting into my body and when. I then had my first CrossFit workout. Holy potatoes! I have never worked so hard or been so sore in my life. <br> Despite the killer workouts, I kept coming back. We monitored my diet in my food journal and gradually I was able to change my eating habits. Slowly, I began to shed pounds and inches. I was gaining muscle and losing fat. In December, after 6 months of two CrossFit workouts per week, I had managed to lose 30 pounds. I had dropped from 41% body fat to 27%. People around me had started to notice, and I became even more motivated to reach my goal. <br> We were working out six days a week, and I was getting stronger by the day. I then changed my diet and began Paleo. After just three months of intensive CrossFit training, I was able to reach my goal a day shy of my one-year anniversary- weighing in at 150 pounds with 24% body fat. I felt amazing and could do things I never thought I’d be able to do. I didn’t stop there, though. I made a new goals, both in terms of my skill and abilities, as well as health. <br> My love of fitness drove me to become a Certified Level 1 CrossFit Trainer in September of 2012 and my Level 2 in October of 2015. I trained athletes at Ferza CrossFit in Denver, Colorado until my family and I returned to my hometown in July of 2014. It only took me about 4 months to realize that I miss coaching too much. Even though I had a group of people I was working out with, I needed more. Then came Bixler Boot Camp LLC in November of 2014. I have an amazing mix of athletes that are changing their lives and motivating others to do the same. We get up at 5 AM and sweat like you wouldn~SQ~t believe, doing things you don~SQ~t think are possible. We cheer each other and have built a great community. I love being fit and healthy.
